The bolt burst plug is a non re-closing pressure relief device providing instantaneous, full-bore over pressure protection for vessels and piping. Unlike spring-loaded relief valves, the bolt burst plug incorporates a precision-machined rupture element that fractures at a predetermined pressure, opening completely within milliseconds. This extruder burst plug is essential in rapid-pressure-rise applications such as exothermic reactions, polymerization, hydraulic accumulators, and plastics extrusion, where relief valves respond too slowly. Burst pressure tolerance is typically ±10% of nominal set point, with temperature compensation applied when needed. Standard connections include NPT, BSP, or flange types. The disposable extruder rupture discs requires replacement after each activation, necessitating spare inventory. Material selection-stainless steel, Hastelloy, -depends on fluid corrosive.
